Winter Day Camp: Baking

  • The Kitchen House 26 East King Street Orlando, FL, 32804 United States (map)

Make the most of school breaks with hands-on adventures where kids discover the joy of growing and preparing food and learn skills they’ll use for a lifetime.

Ignite curiosity and creativity this holiday break with our immersive education experiences that bring the magic of the garden and kitchen to life! Students dive into hands-on projects inspired by nature, exploring how food, art, and science connect in unexpected ways. From exploring plants in the garden to crafting edible creations, each day offers new adventures designed to inspire young minds and cultivate a deeper appreciation for the world around them.

Let’s Bake!

This fun-filled day camp explores the fundamentals of baking. We’ll learn the science behind what’s happening in the oven, and whip up a medley of both sweet and savory baked goods inspired by the seasonal flavors of our culinary garden. Campers will explore how food grows through gardening activities and cook together in the kitchen with whole-food recipes that are downright delicious.

Meet your Culinary Educator, Sarah Bousfield

Sarah Bousfield first learned how to bake on a 1882 wood burning stove at her local living history museum while working as a historical interpreter. Over the past 12 years she has travelled the world cooking at archaeological sites and museums, bringing to life prehistoric and historic recipes. Sarah is a current MA Public History graduate student at the University of Central Florida where she continues her love of foodways through research on the Industrial Revolution and its impacts on kitchen technology.
