Volunteers are an integral part of The Kitchen House ecosystem. Our work offering impactful garden-to-kitchen programming to the community just isn’t possible without the dedicated and passionate team of volunteers who support our educators and students alike. As a volunteer, you get to immerse yourself in the hands-on learning we offer here at The Kitchen House while playing an important role in creating the welcoming environment that helps our students connect with the joy of real food. Your efforts at The Kitchen House will bring a sense of personal fulfillment you will find hard to beat.
Please note that we are currently only accepting volunteers who are 18+ years old.
As a volunteer you will have the opportunity to:
Work hands-on with our students in the garden and kitchen
Meet inspiring food professionals and learn everything they teach our students
Be a spokesperson for our mission & vision
Enjoy the pleasure that comes from making a difference in people’s lives
Connect with nature and hone your gardening skills by helping to maintain the Culinary Garden
Offer specialized professional skills like photography, admin, etc.
Volunteer responsibilities include:
Guiding participants through collaborative cooking, with an emphasis on encouraging autonomy, critical thinking, problem solving, and teamwork
Supporting staff by setting up, transitioning, and breaking down educational spaces
Cleaning up after programs, including bussing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, folding laundry, and sweeping and mopping floors
