Plot to Plate Book Club: What I Ate in One Year

  • The Kitchen House 26 East King Street Orlando, FL, 32804 United States (map)

From plot to plate, this unique book club brings stories to life through hands-on cooking and shared meals inspired by the stories we love.

Plot to Plate Book Club is where literary discussion meets culinary exploration. Participants come ready to dive into the flavors and themes of a featured book—first through hands-on cooking, then around the table with a shared meal and lively conversation. This experience invites you to taste the story, connect with others, and discover how food can deepen our understanding of narrative, culture, and community. Whether you're a passionate reader, a curious cook, or both, this immersive evening promises inspiration, creativity, and connection in every chapter—and every bite.

What I Ate in One Year

In this intimate cooking-and-conversation class, we'll journey through the flavors, stories, and reflections that marked a full year of meals enjoyed by Stanley Tucci—from Italian trattorias and film-set catering to intimate family dinners. We’ll recreate dishes that echo Tucci’s love for simple, authentic cooking, while discussing themes of food as memory and identity, the humor and vulnerability in sharing meals, and the ways personal connections, travel, and life transitions are inseparable from what we eat. As we cook and dine together, we'll delve into how food becomes connects the past and present, the self and others. Please read Stanley Tucci’s memoir before coming to class to fully taste, laugh, and reflect alongside the story.
