  • The Kitchen House 26 East King Street Orlando, FL, 32804 United States (map)

Explore gardening and cooking with fresh, seasonal themes and lunchtime activities designed to meet the flexibility and curiosity of homeschoolers.

Transform learning into an adventure with hands-on field trips that inspire a love for healthy, whole foods! Students explore the journey from garden to kitchen, discovering seasonal ingredients, cultural cuisines, and creative ways to add more plants to their plates. These interactive experiences combine gardening, cooking, and fun activities to spark curiosity, teach essential skills, and promote a lifelong appreciation for nutritious eating. Perfect for independent learners, these trips provide the flexibility to meet their interests while fostering peer connections and new discoveries.

Flavors of Japan

Discover the tastes, techniques, and traditions of Japanese cooking in this hands-on homeschool class! Together, we’ll prepare a flavorful Japanese meal while learning essential kitchen and garden skills like knife safety, composting, and working as a team. Along the way, we’ll explore Japan’s food culture, dining customs, and the difference eating seasonal foods makes in taste, nutrition, and sustainability.

Meet Your Educator, Sarah Bousfield

Sarah Bousfield first learned how to bake on a 1882 wood burning stove at her local living history museum while working as a historical interpreter. Over the past 12 years she has travelled the world cooking at archaeological sites and museums, bringing to life prehistoric and historic recipes. Sarah is a current MA Public History graduate student at the University of Central Florida where she continues her love of foodways through research on the Industrial Revolution and its impacts on kitchen technology.
